"Outstaging the Stager" - The Games Sellers Play

I posted the first blog post about clients we worked with that said "We are Stagers" - and when working with us - we clearly were from two different worlds - they are in re-design, and we are in Staging.

I thought you'd like to see the Before & After photos from this Staging project.  Because we learned in our initial training how to handle a client - and how to honor them and their things - our suggestions were not taken as criticisms and the sellers ended up doing ALL we recommended.

Pool table in the LR - the first room buyers walked into - we recommended the removal of the pool table - even though the sellers said, "We've always lived this way," - and it had not occurred to them to remove this large item.  Their house had been on the market for a year with another Realtor.  The one that brought us in understands the benefit and need for Staging.

Items used in the LR were found in other rooms of the house.  Nothing had to be rented.

Formal Dining room being used as a Bar.  Piano was moved to the LR below, and the bar was removed.  The table in the after photo came from the Kitchen Nook that was dwarfed by the oversize table that the seller said, "Looks like a landing strip" when she saw it in the photo on my camera.

Table from Nook - fits much better in the formal dining room. The seller put a smaller bistro size pub table in the nook that looked great.

Family room - too many large pieces and too dark.  The loveseat in the foreground was used in the formal living room.  The paint color was great for living, not for selling.  It made the room feel dark, and it was too custom.  The sellers agreed to paint and rearrange according to our plan.

WOW! What a difference!

The master bedroom had too many large pieces and too dark of wall color (terra cotta).  The seller used our plan for rearranging and removing things, the white chairs in the living room (after) came from this room.  Swapping the bedding and painting the walls made a huge difference.

NOW - bright and easy to move around. Job well done!!
