I can't help sharing the graduation of our daughter, Lauren, from 8th grade. She received the President's Academic Award of Excellence (based on GPA and SAT Scores) and also received a plaque for being on the honor roll all 4 quarters. There was a Jr. High banquet - and I helped "Stage" the centerpieces - and the kids were all dressed up, and then the following evening was the actual ceremony with their graduation gowns. This was the highlight of my week last week - my husband and I are so proud!
I recall my own 8th grade graduation - I do remember wearing a long sundress and had my hair up in a braided side-do for our outdoor ceremony, but we did not have a big banquet or awards, and did not wear a gown - not until high school. Seems that the formal process for high school and college graduations has trickled down to 8th graders now.
Next year - we'll have a 9th grader, 7th grader, 5th and 4th graders and for now are just enjoying the summer!

Jennie !!! You should be proud and brag! You have a beautiful family, thanks for sharing this with us.
Thanks for sharing your family with us. You have four great looking kids - and I'm sure you have your hands full! Have a great summer and enjoy your time with the kids. As the saying goes, they really DO grow up fast!
Thanks, Ferrnando and Nancy. . . My family is really important and that is why I do what I do - and it's good to take time to share and reflect. They DO grow up fast - I just had a really hard time believing that the beauty I saw in front of me was my 13 (almost 14) year old daughter! Just yesterday she was dressed in her princess costume dancing in front of the mirror - and now she is blossoming into this young woman! I was proud of myself - I did not cry - though I did get choked up at one point. Mostly I just cheered and embarrassed my daughter and her friends. I am allowed. - Jennie
Jennie - your family is beautiful!!!! I'm right behind you - Next year I'll have 7,6,4, and 3rd grades. They are growing up so fast. Thanks for sharing your family with us.
Jennie, what a gorgeous young lady you have... Congrats on the graduation and your staging - we need photos of your tables.. Your guys are very handsome as well.. You are going to have a time - with all the girls and guys hanging around your house !! I truly enjoyed your photos and blog... Thanks for the other post also...
God bless,
Jennie,
I've said it before and I'll say it again, "you have a beautiful family". Of course having a gorgeous Mommy helps! Congratulations to your graduate. My middle daughter just graduated highschool as well, not quite with the honors as your daughter though; mine excels in socializing! LOL
My how your children have grown!!!! HOW!!!!!! They are a great looking bunch!!! I can see why you are proud!!
Thanks, everyone - for your comments. Maureen - you are just about like me - gets crazy sometimes, doesn't it? What do you have - boys? Girls?
Cheryl - I hope to get to know you more too - I appreciate your comments. . .
Michelle - Lauren is only in 8th grade - we'll hopefully keep her on track through high school - but she has discovered boys and texts like a fiend! Her cell phone is key leverage we have over her if she is "sassing."
Cathy - I know the kids are getting big - I know when I started with everyone in the world of ASPs, the kids were 2-7 years old - babies. Now - young lady and boys turning to young men. Wish I could stop time sometimes!

Jennie, Thanks for linking this post...your family is beautiful and you should be so proud! I love sharing stories about my kids!!!! =) That's what being a mom is all about, right?
ugghh, my son is going into 8th grade this year. This past year has been such a turning point for me...morphing from kids into young adults...you can practically see the changes with each passing day.
Beautiful and smart, that's a great combo! You have every right to be proud. They're all growing up so fast! It's scary!

Jennie- Your daughter is so pretty and looks JUST like her mom! As an empty nester, I fondly remember all these milestones in my kid's lives. I always wanted four kids, but decided to stop after two (chilbbirth is painful!) Hope you have a ton of fun this summer! Thanks so much for sharing
Hi All,
Thanks for stopping in to read the post and for commenting on my "graduate." Time passes so quickly - I can't imagine the day when we will be empty nesters - but it will come! Have a great summer, too! - Jennie
